How to fix it depending on your wall
To hang a bike, fit Brera to a solid masonry wall (brick or block), using the wall plugs given in the fitting instructions. The process, broadly, is the same as for any floating shelf that has to carry real weight:
- Identify your wall type. For the bike you need a solid wall: brick or block, with the right plug for that material. If you are unsure, tap gently with your knuckles: a hollow sound means plasterboard.
- Mark the position allowing for the height of the hanging bike, not only the empty shelf. Leave enough room so the wheel does not touch the floor or a nearby piece of furniture.
- Drill and insert the wall plug suited to your wall type and to the weight it will carry with the bike on.
- Fix the shelf and check it is firm before fitting the wooden hangers for the frame.
- Fit the hangers into the pre-marked holes and hang the bike, checking it is steady before you let go completely.

They are fine if function is all that matters. The difference with Brera is that you don't have to pick one or the other: it is a real shelf that works as one even without the bike, and it also solves the problem of where to keep the bike without the solution looking like storage.
It is the right choice if your bike will usually be on show, in the hallway, the living room or the corridor, and you would rather it became part of the decor than hide it away.
